Tenapanor 30mg

INDICATION:

LuciTena is indicated to reduce serum phosphorus in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis as add-on therapy in patients who:

• Have an inadequate response to phosphate binders, or

• Are intolerant to any dose of phosphate binder therapy

DOSAGE AND USE:

• Recommended dosage: 30 mg orally twice daily before the morning and evening meals.

Administration instructions:

• Take just prior to the first and last meals of the day.

• Do not take immediately before a hemodialysis session; instead, take before the next meal after dialysis.

• If a dose is missed, skip it and continue with the next scheduled dose.

Monitoring:

• Regularly monitor serum phosphorus levels to assess effectiveness.

• Adjust the dosage as needed to manage gastrointestinal side effects, primarily diarrhea.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

• Children under 6 years of age (risk of diarrhea and serious dehydration)

• Patients with known or suspected mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS / WARNINGS:

• Most common: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort

• Rare but serious: dehydration in children, electrolyte imbalances

• Use with caution in patients with pre-existing gastrointestinal disorders

DOSAGE FORM AND STRENGTH:

• Tablets: 30 mg, brownish-red, oval, film-coated, debossed with “Lucius” on one side

STORAGE:

• Store in a dry place at 20°C to 25°C

• Protect from moisture and light
